About This Quote

A prayer was like a tickle.Sooner or later God would have to look down to see what was tickling his bum. This quote is said by the main character in the movie “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring”. It is a message that was given to Frodo and Sam by Gandalf. Frodo and Sam were wondering if they should take the ring back to Mordor or if they should let it stay in the Shire.

They thought that it could be dangerous for them and their family if they took it back to Mordor. So, they asked Gandalf for advice on what they should do with it. Gandalf said that he thought that taking it back to Mordor would be fun but dangerous for them and their family; however, he also thought that leaving it in the Shire would be better but also dangerous for us and our family.

He said: "A prayer was like a tickle.Sooner or later God would have to look down to see what was tickling his bum." He meant that sooner or later, we all have to face our own version of “The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring” and we should not worry about what other people think because we can only control ourselves and not control other people’s opinions about us.
